(2017) The Early Rousseau’s Egalitarian Feminism: A Philosophical Convergence with Madame Dupin and ‘The Critique of the Spirit of the Laws.’ History of European Ideas. 43(7), pp. 732–744. By comparing understudied manuscripts in Rousseau’s handwriting that were composed during his secretarial and scholarly work for Madame Dupin in the late 1740s, this article provides a window into understanding not only the early Rousseau’s contributions to the oeuvre of Madame Dupin and her husband, but also the overlap in his egalitarian views on the capabilities of the sexes with one of the most famous French feminists of the Enlightenment era.
