Law Enforcement and Substance Abuse Prevention: Training and Strategy Selection

Abstract

Law enforcement officers need specific training in several related areas before attempting to do drug prevention. This training will also help them select an appropriate strategy to use. There is more to drug prevention than to say that “drugs are harmful.” A suggested training program and a specific information strategy is offered to insure respectability and responsibility for the police officer who does or is going to do substance abuse prevention.
