Abstract
A treatment program was established for Spanish-speaking (and other) drug addicts. A staff training program was established to: 1) Increase the trainees' knowledge of the etiology and treatment of drug addiction; 2) Challenge their attitudes regarding the use of licit and illicit drugs; 3) Increase their competence in counseling skills. An evaluation of the program indicated that there was improvement in the first and third of these three areas, but there was no perceptible change in the second area.
