Abstract
In order to explore correlates of choice of method for suicide, a sample of attempted suicides using cutting was compared with a sample of attempted suicides using coma-producing drugs. The cutters appeared to be more severely psychiatrically disturbed and less intent on dying. The implications of these results for the study of completed suicide were discussed.
