Abstract
The temporal persistence of illness behavior evident soon after myocardial infarction [MI] was examined over an eight month period in a cohort of survivors of MI. Persistence was evident in seven of eight patterns of illness behavior, as indicated by significant correlations between illness behavior scores soon after MI and those obtained eight months later. The importance of this finding is discussed in the light of the role of illness behavior soon after MI in determining patterns of outcome.
