Abstract
Biweekly patient-centered conferences with the non-physician staff of an oncology clinic revealed the unique pressures experienced by these personnel and the key role they play in the psychosocial management of chronically ill patients. The introduction of behavioral science principles through these conferences was useful in promoting improved staff morale and more appropriate patient management and suggests a model for the development of a comprehensive health delivery system.
