On some sources of disturbance of the normal atmospheric potential gradient

Abstract

The author has made a study of some of the abnormal variations due to local circumstances and it appears that there are three main factors besides rain, hail and snow which may exert a disturbing influence, viz.:- 1. the presence of dust raised by the wind sweeping over loose soil, etc., or by traffic passing along roads and streets. 2. The presence of dust produced during certain manufacturing operations. 3. The presence of clouds of steam.
