Franz Daniel Kahn. 13 May 1926 — 8 February 1998

Abstract

Franz Daniel Kahn was born in Nüremberg, Germany, on 13 May 1926. He came of a quite well–to–do German–Jewish family. His parents were Siegfried and Grete Kahn (née Mann) and his father was a successful manufacturer of children's toys. (The influence of his father's occupation seems to have lasted all of Franz's life, although he did try to justify his many visits to Hamley's in London as being for the benefit of his children and, later, his grandchildren.)
