Abstract
A comparison of the energy spectrum of the rays before incidence on an absorber, with their absorption curve in the absorber, allows the relation between the range and energy of the particles to be deduced, if certain simplifying assumptions are made. Street, Woodward and Stevenson (1935) first used this method to find the energy loss in lead of cosmic ray particles of energies up to 3 x 10
9
e-volts. Our new determination (preceding paper, p. 1) of the energy spectrum allows the application of this method up to energies of about 2 x 10
10
e-volts.
