Abstract
The purpose of the present paper is to provide an experimental contribution towards the knowledge of the mechanism of crystal growth from solutions. Certain details about the mechanism of crystal growth have been studied in the case of one-component systems, i. e. crystals growing from the melt or from the vapour. Very little is known about crystal growth from solutions. Yet, although the one-component system is the simpler one, special interest is attached to the two-component system, because of its technical applications. In chemical industry crystals are grown from solutions on a big scale. A closer knowledge of the mechanism of crystal growth would enable one to apply the conditions, e. g. temperature or degree of supersaturation, most favourable for the process in question. This is, as yet, done purely empirically.
