Abstract
During the growth cycle of
Bact. lactis aerogenes
in a medium containing glucose and inorganic salts the ratio
RNA/DNA
rises steeply to a maximum and declines. The variation is due in the main to the
RNA
. It depends on a complex set of factors affecting the environment, and is not primarily a question of the number of divisions undergone by the original inoculum.
