The effect of nitric oxide on the pyrolysis of ethane

Abstract

The kinetics of the very early stages of the pyrolysis of ethane inhibited by nitric oxide have been studied through mass-spectrometric analysis. The results show the very limited use of manometric data for interpreting such a complex reaction. Excellent agreement with experiment is obtained by using the mechanism for inhibited pyrolyses proposed by Norrish & Pratt (1963), and some of the relevant rate parameters are evaluated.
