The analysis and synthesis of some disease of the mosaic type. The problem of carriers and auto-infection in the potato

Abstract

Recent work on the virus diseases of the potato has not only led to a reconsideration of the relation between virus infection and the clinical picture of disease, but has furnished us with evidence as to the existence of two distinct viruses and their co-existence in certain diseases whether patent or carried. The present work deals with still another, a third element, the analysis and the synthesis of certain virus diseases from these elements, and the relations subsisting between the viruses when present together within one and the same plant.
