Abstract
Previous acoustic magnetic resonance measurements on the enhanced nuclear magnet HoVO

(Bleaney
et al., Proc. R. Soc. Lond
. A 388, 479 (1983)) have been extended. The predicted dependences on the second and fourth powers of the frequency are confirmed over the range 0.6-1.6 GHz. New values of the absorption coefficients are obtained for two principal longitudinal acoustic modes, and the corresponding spin-lattice relaxation rates for the direct process are shown to be much slower than measurements relying on observation of recovery from saturation.
