Abstract
The cross-section and angular distributions of protons from the D-D reaction using thin gas targets have been measured from 55 to 430 keV. The results have been expressed in the form
σ
θ
= (
σ
/4
π
(1+⅓
A
+1/5
B
)) (1+
A
cos
2
θ +
B
cos
4
θ). The variation of the total cross-section
σ
and the asymmetry coefficients
A
and
B
over the energy range 15 to 190 keV can be described by the theory of Beiduk, Pruett & Konopinski introducing only a small or negligible amount of spin-orbit coupling. The ratio of the number of
3
He’s to
3
H’s has been measured up to 250 keV at a few angles in the forward direction only, and found to be unity within experimental error.
