The fine structure of the 4 d 3 ∑ , 3 Π cd , 3 Δ d →2 p 3 Π cd transitions of the H 2 spectrum

Abstract

According to the classification most of these lines, the stronger of which are here resolved or partly resolved with a Fabry-Perot interferometer, are blended. After allowing for blends and making a few changes in classification the structures of the ‘regular’ lines (ending on 2 p 3 Π c states) are in general agreement with those reported earlier for the corresponding 3 d 3 , Π , Δ →2p 3 Π lines. For the ‘irregular’ lines (ending on 2p 3 Π d states) the overall splittings are similar to those reported earlier, except at K = 1, where they differ considerably but agree with more recent work on the 3 d 3 , Π , Δ →2p 3 Π lines.
