Abstract

A brief description is given of the corrosion process and type of attack with particular reference to metal behaviour in aqueous solutions. Some factors which have to be taken into account in the design of plant are described and examples given of the choice of materials for particular services. The methods of corrosion prevention are briefly reviewed and some predictions made on future prospects for improving the corrosion behaviour of metals and alloys.
