Abstract
Percy Edward Kent was born in West Bridgford, Nottingham, on 18 March 1913. Early in his life he chose to be called Peter, and by this name he has become widely known as a leading petroleum exploration geologist, as Chairman of the Natural Environment Research Council (N.E.R.C.) and latterly as a consultant and company director.
