Abstract

Changing the brightness and color temperature of the bright screen display can improve visual comfort for health monitoring of human operators using computers. Such techniques have been applied on some mobile tablets, but there is little eye research on the impact of industrial machine operation on the visual comfort for humans, which can influence their eye health. In this health informatics study, 20 operators were evaluated using operational exercises under different ambient light conditions, brightness and color temperature, through the tobiipro/x3-120 eye tracker to obtain the blink frequency in the sampling. Combined with the experimental task of testing the operating efficiency, and combined with the operators’ subjective perception scores of the operation display, we can then comprehensively evaluate the influence of display brightness and color temperature on visual fatigue. The result shows that: (1) Ambient light, display brightness and display color temperature together affect the workers’ visual fatigue; (2) Increasing the brightness of the display under low ambient light conditions can improve operational efficiency, but it can also cause visual fatigue. In conclusion, the health analysis used in our research has a vital role in improving optical health of humans and can be used as a guide for future health informatics study related to this field.
