Two New Coordination Polymers on the Basis of Cu(II) Applied as Photocatalysts and the Treatment Activity Against Coronary Heart Disease by Regulating Matrix Metalloprotein Expression

Abstract

Two new Cu(II)-based compounds, namely, [Cu(py)2(L)2(H2O)]n (2) and [Cu(2,2′-bipy)(L)2(H2O)]n ·n(H2O) (1) (2,2′-bipy is 2,2′-bipyridine, py = pyridine, L = 2-(naphthalen-2yloxy)acetic acid), were hydrothermally generated and characterized structurally. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis suggested that the coordination polymers (CPs) were 0D isolated structures with [Cu(2,2′-bipy)(L)2(H2O)] motif and [Cu(py)2(L)2(H2O)] motif, respectively. The CPs’ solid-state reflectance spectra revealed their excellent semiconductive performances. Their photocatalytic activities were further assessed through MB photodegradation after irradiation with ultraviolet light. MMP expression in vascular smooth-muscle cells was also examined through real-time RT-PCR assay. ELISA was implemented to determine the inflammatory cytokine level.
