Abstract
Hyperactivity is a characteristic often associated with learning disabilities. However, diagnosticians, practitioners, and researchers have been beset by problems related to the definition and measurement of this condition. This article presents an excellent review and appraisal of available instruments for assessing hyperactivity in children. Poggio and Salkind conclude that most instruments have serious flaws that limit their effectiveness in assessment of hyperactivity in children.
