Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and DFT Study of 3-(2-Naphthol-1-yl)naphtho[2,1-b]furan

Abstract

In this paper, we wish to report an efficient approach to the synthesis of new 3-(2-Naphthol-1-yl)naphtho[2,1-b] furan (B), by ring opening of 7a, 14c-dihydronaphtho[2,l- b]naphtho-[2?,1?:5,6]furo[3,2-d]furan (A) in acidic medium. The structure of (B) was characterized by various spectroscopic techniques, X-ray, and theoretical density functional theory calculations..
