Stephan L Haas is Consultant and Assistant Professor and works at Karolinska University Hospital (Sweden), with prior appointments at the University Hospitals of Heidelberg, Munich and Dresden, Germany. One of the main foci of his PhD research was the characterization of inflammatory mechanisms of chronic pancreatitis and chronic hepatitis C with a special interest in IL-18. He has been a member of Matthias Löhr’s pancreas group for more than 10 years.

Rainer Heuchel was appointed Head of the Pancreas Research Laboratory in January 2008 after having been Leader of the Gene Targeting group at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Uppsala, Sweden. His main expertise is in growth factor signaling (platelet-derived growth factor, transforming growth factor-β) and genetically engineered mouse models for human diseases.
