1. Jagadeesh K Kalavakunta is a member of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Physicians. He has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals and has also presented at national and international conferences. Currently, he is working as a cardiology fellow at Michigan State University (USA). His research interests include myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis, coronary interventions and structural heart diseases.
2. Imad Ahmado is a cardiology fellow at Michigan State University. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. Before joining the Michigan State University program, he completed a 2-year Postdoctoral Research Cardiology Fellowship and a 1-year Nuclear Cardiology Fellowship, both at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School (USA). His research interests include myocardial imaging, atherosclerosis and coronary interventions.
3. Oliver G Abela is a resident physician in internal medicine at Michigan State University. He is a member of the National Lipid Association with a certification in basic lipidology. His research interests include strain imaging with high-resolution echocardiography as well as assessing plaque composition by different modalities. He has authored summaries for Cochrane Clinical Answers as well as chapters in the Atlas of Internal Medicine.
4. George S Abela is Professor and Chief Division of Cardiology at Michigan State University. He is a pioneer in the mechanisms of plaque rupture and thrombosis leading to heart attacks and strokes. He demonstrated for the first time that cholesterol occupies a larger volume in crystal state that can lead to rupture of the atherosclerotic fibrous plaque cap. He is the editor of ten books, has written over 200 articles and trained over 50 cardiologists practicing worldwide.
