1. Sanam Verna is a medical student at the University of Alberta (AB, Canada). He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology and chemistry from the University of Alberta, with first-class honours. He is a recipient of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology Scholars Program award.
2. Rosica Valcheva is a research associate at the Center of Excellence for Gastrointestinal Inflammation and Immunity Research at the University of Alberta. She has a PhD in microbiology (University of Sofia, Bulgaria) and a PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology (École Nationale d’Ingénieurs des Techniques des Industries Agro-Alimentaires, Nantes, France).
3. Shakir Bakkari is an advanced inflammatory bowel disease Fellow at the University of Alberta. He has a medical degree (King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) and gastrointestinal residency program (King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre) with first-class honors.
4. Levinus (Leo) Dieleman is Professor of Medicine at the University of Alberta and a clinician, with a major interest in inflammatory bowel disease, in the Division of Gastroenterology. His research is focused on the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease, and the role of the intestinal microbiota in disease induction or prevention.
