Impulse für die Kulturstudien in der Germanistik

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to take a closer look at a sub-area that occupies an important place in the canon of German studies in France as "Histoire et Civilisation", in order to show what advantage a strengthening of the approach in the field of cultural studies would have for German studies in particular. The focus here is on the cultural heritage of North Africa as a sign of the settlers who came there from Europe. By focusing on the material heritage they left behind, a reference to »material studies« is also established.
