E-mail: rntcosta@fortalnet.com.br2Departamento Nacional de Obras Contra as Secas, João Pessoa, PB.3Departamento de Economia Agrícola, Universidade Federal do Ceará, Fortaleza, CE.  1 RESUMO Na presente pesquisa, foram utilizados quatro métodos para avaliação de investimentos: relação benefício/custo (B/C), valor presente líquido (VPL), taxa interna de retorno (TIR) e período “payback” para analisar a viabilidade econômica da recuperação de um solo sódico em condições de drenagem subterrânea, no Vale do Curu, município de Pentecoste, CE. A área do experimento, foi inicialmente submetida a um manejo integrado de recuperação constituído pela associação de tratamentos mecânicos, químico e vegetativo. Em seguida, realizou-se um monitoramento do processo de recuperação do solo, obtendo-se valores de características químico-hídricas, que demonstravam uma melhoria significativa nas suas condições de drenabilidade, causando uma mudança nos níveis, de muito fortemente sódico para não sódico (PST < 10%). A análise dos indicadores de rentabilidade relação benefício/custo, valor presente líquido e taxa interna de retorno evidenciou viabilidade econômica do processo de recuperação do solo, porém o período “payback” de oito anos, inviabiliza referido processo de recuperação. UNITERMOS: sodicidade, drenos laterais, indicadores econômicos.  COSTA, R. ECONOMIC INDICATORS OF THE RECLAMATION OF SODIC SOIL IN UNDERGROUND DRAINAGE CONDITIONS  2 ABSTRACT The present research was carried out in a drained wet area at the experimental drainage field of Curu valley, Ceara, Brazil. The main objective of the research was to analyze the economical evaluation of the reclamation process in an aluvial sodic soil through cost-benefit relation, net present value, “internal return rate” and payback. The first part of the research studied the combined effects of mechanical, chemical and vegetative treatments in reclaming the aluvial halomorphic vertisoil. After this, the evolution of physical and chemical parameters of this soil was analyzed. The results of these analyses showed the soil characteristics have changed and the soil could be classified as normal, according to the standards of the salinity and alkalinity (ESP < 10%). Considering the experimental conditions, the analysis of the economical indicators of cost-benefit relation, net present value and “internal return rate” showed that investing in management of the soil reclamation is profitable, whereas payback showed not to be feasible.   KEYWORDS: sodicity, lateral drains, economic indicators.
