Abstract
The Keller Funnel, an FDA Class 1 device, in 2009 provided plastic and cosmetic surgeons a new tool for inserting silicone implants in augmentation or reconstruction procedures. Conceived by plastic surgeon Kevin Keller, MD, the device was designed to simplify the delivery of the implant into the breast pocket, to reduce incision lengths to equal that of saline implant procedures, and to offer a minimal or no-touch technique to lessen the introduction of contaminants. The development and success of the implant delivery device, the Keller Funnel, happened like many emerging enterprises with part ingenuity, part serendipity, and a lot of energy.
