Abstract
AbstractA review is made of the main areas of engineering and mining activities, which give rise to induced seismicity in the rock mass. These include the occurrences of rock bursts following the failure of the rock mass in highly stressed areas during mining operations, seismic activity due to pumping operations in geothermal, waste disposal, and hydrocarbon extraction applications and earth movements resulting from the filling and emptying of reservoirs.
