Abstract
Clitocybula azurea, which was described by Singer in 1973 from Brazil and Venezuela, is characterized by its bluish to grayish blue tinges, narrow lamellae, cespitose and lignicolous habit, and small, amyloid, subglobose basidiospores. However, despite its striking coloration,
the species is not described or illustrated in recent literature. The species is here redescribed and illustrated, its distribution extended to Argentina, and its phylogenetic position analysed.
