Abstract
This study aims to examine theses prepared as a comparison with different countries in the field of social studies education in Turkey. The screening method was used and data was analyzed with document analysis technique in the research. Within the scope of the study subject, the database of the Council of Higher Education Thesis Centre was scanned 32 theses were included in the research sample. These master and doctoral theses were examined in terms of the theses types, year of the study, researchers' characteristics, theses advisors' academic title, universities, data collection technique, sample group, data analysis method, comparative education approach, countries, and research topics. According to the results of the study, it was concluded that master theses were the majority of the theses examination of theses prepared as a comparative with different countries in the field of social studies education. Also, it is seen that the most of research was carried out in 2018, comparative education approach was not specified at most of the theses, the most of the studied country was the USA by researchers; most of the theses were prepared at the University of Marmara.
