Abstract
ABSTRACTDifferent structure types related to the hexagonal tungsten bronze structure have been observed in the AxCrF3 sytem (A= K, Rb) by electron diffraction and high resolution electron microscopy. These structures decomposed into alkali metal and CrF3 in the electron beam. The former evaporates, leaving the original structure highly unstable. CrF3 crystallizes via a highly disordered phase to a distorted ReO3–type structure.
