Abstract

There are different ways of evaluating the tourist viability of a territory, but there are few that focus as a first stage, knowing the opinion of the community under analysis, it would not be correct to preconceive ideas in relation to what type of elements, characteristics or attractions would be the better, if they are not identified by the same members of the territory in question. In this sense, the primary purpose of this study is to make an articulation of the tourist potential of the Yoreme - Mayo community in the Mochicahui union, and its contribution to sustainable social welfare in the Municipality of El Fuerte, Sinaloa; through the identification of the natural and cultural resources of the community, determining the most viable sites for the practice and development of tourism based on the opinion of the residents themselves. As part of the methodological design, the research was based on the ethnographic perspective, documentary and field research techniques were carried out under a mixed inquiry approach, a questionnaire consisting of 15 questions was applied to 375 residents of three indigenous communities, also 15 semi-structured interviews with key figures in the population, together with non-participant observation procedures. Among the main findings, the most important peculiarities, natural and cultural resources of the area are described, highlighting Holy Week Yoreme, likewise, the results allowed us to know the position of the population in relation to the adoption of tourism, not only to generate income economic, but as an opportunity to share and keep their traditions alive.
