Abstract

In the first years of the People’s Republic of China, the relations between China-Middle East and China-North Africa (MENA) indicated a relatively slow performance. With the recognition of western countries and China’s getting the permanent member position in the United Nations, the relations between China-MENA entered a new era. With the Opening-Up and Reform policies, these relations got momentum. However, with the leadership of President Xi, these relations entered a more advanced phase to establish partnership cooperation with many countries in the region. This article aims to explore the evolution of Chinese foreign policy toward the Middle East and North Africa. It also aims to evaluate the development process of China-Middle East and North African relations through a historical and practical perspective.
