Abstract

The 12 Labours project’s goal is to establish a clinically oriented framework for modelling the physiological systems of the adult human body (male and female); however, children are not small adult and cannot be represented using adult models. About 20% of Aotearoa New Zealand population are children aged 15 years and under, this population is not yet represented in the 12 Labours objective. I propose to leverage the framework created around the three technology platforms to build digital children (male and female) using the following exemplar project: Personalised models for the diagnosis and treatment of children with musculoskeletal disorders. My project has 3 main objectives; 1) Making the World’s first 3Dimensional lower limbs bones measurement growth chart, 2) Develop bioengineering tools for early diagnosis assessment and rehabilitation monitoring in the community using wearable sensors and 3) Preventing bone and joint disease for future New Zealanders.
