Abstract
Stem cell research has aroused great interest in the scientific community and society in general, due to its potential for the treatment of various diseases. However, the debate around the bioethics of stem cell use remains controversial. This study aims to investigate the positioning of a population sample in relation to the bioethics of the use of stem cells, in order to understand the level of knowledge and acceptance of the population on this subject. The aim of this study was to evaluate the knowledge and acceptance of the population regarding the bioethics of the use of stem cells. A quantitative and descriptive study was conducted through an online questionnaire applied to individuals over 18 years of ge. The questionnaire addressed questions related to knowledge about stem cells, opinions about embryonic and non-embryonic stem cell research, and demographic characteristics of the participants. The results showed that the level of knowledge about stem cells varied significantly according to the level of education, and individuals with a higher level of education had greater knowledge about the subject. In addition, it was observed that the majority of participants were in favor of stem cell research, especially non-embryonic ones. This study highlighted the importance of promoting education and awareness about stem cells and their bioethics, in order to improve the knowledge of the population and allow a more informed participation in debates related to research and clinical application of stem cells. In addition, the results highlighted the need to consider different perspectives and opinions when making decisions related to the use of stem cells, taking into account the ethical, social and legal aspects involved.
