SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND ANTIMICROBIAL SCREENING OF SOME NEW ISOXAZOLE DERIVATIVES INCORPORATING 6, 8-DIBROMO-2-METHYLQUINAZOLIN-4-ONE MOIETY

Abstract

A novel series of 6,8-dibromo-3-[4-(5-substitutedphenyl-1,2-oxazol-3-yl)phenyl]-2-methylquinazolin-4-one have been synthesized by refluxation of 6,8-dibromo-3-{4-[3-(substitutedphenyl)prop-2-enoyl]phenyl}-2-methylquinazolin-4-one in dioxane, hydroxylamine hydrochloride and potassium hydroxide (KOH). The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds have been confirmed by IR, NMR and spectral data and evaluated for antibacterial and antifungal activity.
