Abstract

After the pandemic, we quickly returned to business as usual. Many events moved back from online to offline, and the flying-around-the-globe circus was re-launched. If we take the climate crisis seriously, we should walk our own climate crisis talk to reduce our global carbon footprint, and to safeguard science’s credibility and legitimacy. The AIB could lead by example by opting for a hub-and-spoke model, combining an international and large but online annual conference with an orchestrated series of regional and small offline events. AIB can reap the opportunity to showcase how the road to greater sustainability could be paved convincingly.
