Abstract
Underground maps have become an iconic image that has transcended the function for which they were created. Among its multiple visual and spatial possibilities, it allows to be a cartography that simplifies and organizes the perception we have of the territory. A study of the geography of perception based on the preparation of underground plans to analyse the city of Green Bay (WI, USA) is presented. The methodological and educational possibilities of this utopian cartography are explored for its use as a mental map. The knowledge and perception of a group of citizens about the city they reside through a synthetic cartography is analysed.
