Abstract
This study, as the basic research for developing fire safety guidelines for a building, analyzed the fire risk in buildings according to their occupancy type through fire statistics. This study conducted the fire statistics analysis using data of 6 years (2012-2017) obtained from the National Fire Data System. The fire risk scale of casualties and property damage per fire was classified using Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) technique. As a result, residential, transportation & vehicles, industrial and medical welfare facilities were identified as the structures with high fire risk. In addition, this study presented the fire risk grade by dividing the risk of facilities into 5 phases through SFPE's structure fire risk analysis method and ArcGIS's natural division method through subdivision of 4 types of facilities previously identified using the IPA technique.
