Abstract
In this study, the structural performances of membrane structural soundproof tunnels using circular steel tubes are investigated. Full-scale specimens are manufactured for monotonic and cyclic loading tests for snow and wind loads, and their combination. A full-scale experiment is performed to gain insights into the loading test details while considering the effects of membrane tension and the steel tube truss frame. Parametric results show that the soundproof tunnel structures proposed herein satisfy the requirements for structural safety as well as afford a lighter and more aesthetic design.
