EXAMINING PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ MOTIVATION TO BE A TEACHER, SELF-EFFICIENCY BELIEFS, INNOVATIVENESS AND JOB SATISFACTION

Abstract

Teachers have important roles in having the qualified manpower required by the society, in adapting individuals to social life, and in adapting the society to a number of social and technological changes. TALIS (Teaching and Learning International Survey) is one of the international studies on teachers. The purpose of this study is to examine the motivations to be a teacher, teaching self-efficacy beliefs, innovation perceptions and job satisfaction of teachers participating to TALIS 2018 survey in Turkey. The study was conducted on causal comperative. The sample was 3204 elementary school teachers. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t test, ANOVA were conducted in the analysis of the data. As a result of the study, it was found that primary school teachers’ motivation to be a teacher, innovativeness and job satisfaction were moderate, while their self-efficacy beliefs were high.
