Abstract
The aim of this study was to find evidence for the hypothesis that we dream while we are waking up and not while we are asleep. 217 dreams recorded during a 2-yr. period by a man were analyzed for elements which reflected the influence of external and internal stimuli present at the time he was awakening. A number of correlations between dream content and stimuli was found. This finding suggests that dreams may be formed during the period of awakening.
