Abstract
Four groups of the common iguana ( Iguana iguana) were trained in a 6-ft. runway. All groups were run in a cool, darkened room. Groups I, II, III, and IV received light, heat, heat and light, and neither heat nor light, respectively, as the goal box condition. All groups, except Group IV, demonstrated runway acquisition. The groups were then given extinction training during which the goal box condition was that of neither heat nor light. Although no significant differences were found, resistance to extinction was greatest in Groups I, II, and III, respectively, with the performance of Group IV unchanged.
