Abstract
The semantic differential was administered to 58 college-experienced (i.e., upper division) and 106 college-inexperienced (i.e., lower division) Ss. Ss were asked to rate 4 concepts (Men, Women, Male Professors, Female Professors) on 21 polar adjectives using a 10-point rating scale. The ratings were analyzed for evidence of sex-stereotyping by sex and experience of rater. Inexperienced females sex-stereotyped but males did not. The evidence provides basis for hope, however, afflicted Ss may recover after continued exposure to the stereotyped persons.
