Abstract
A multiple-regression analysis of the association between the endorsement of irrational beliefs and scores on tests of reading, writing, and mathematics in 135 female and 98 male college applicants confirmed the hypothesis that Ellisonian irrationality is associated with the verbal and not the nonverbal aspects of intellectual functioning. Possible mechanisms to account for the relationships are discussed.
