Abstract
75 elderly persons in Los Angeles were administered the UCLA Loneliness Scale and a battery of health and psychosocial measures. Correlations showed that irrespective of marriage, being lonely was inversely related to education, health, and several aspects of emotional well-being. Women tended to feel mote lonely than men.
