Abstract
A survey of 120 adult subjects was conducted to investigate the influence of childhood experience with pets (dogs and cats) on an individual's subsequent liking for pets when adult. The results demonstrate a significant association between a person's contact with pet-animals during childhood and his tendency to keep pets, usually of the same species, as an adult. Some theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
