Abstract
Significant over-all sex differences were not obtained for scores of 134 women and 127 men (majority aged 18 to 20 yr.), on Hermans' Prestatie Motivatie Test. A stepwise multiple regression indicated that there were significant sex differences on 3 of the 9 aspects of n Ach measured by the test, Achievement Behavior, Persistence, and Time Perspective, based upon 5 items of 29 Chi square analyses produced significant sex differences on 5 of the 9 n Ach aspects: Achievement Behavior, Persistence, Time Perspective, Task Tension, and Partner Choice, based upon 7 out of 29 items. Differences favored females in Achievement Behavior. Findings are discussed in terms of current social and research trends. Shortcomings are also discussed.
