Abstract
66 healthy young adults, matched on age, sex, and education, were administered the Logical Memory passages of the Wechsler Memory Scale—Revised in standard order (A + B) or reverse order (B + A). Recall of both stories was similar regardless of the order of administration, suggesting that the stories were equivalent in task difficulty. Despite equivalence of story difficulty, proactive interference was not observed in this sample. These results are discussed within the context of previous research, and suggestions for further research are made.
